I am a Painter, Business Woman and Creative Thinker living in the mountains of Utah with my husband Chris.
I have always enjoyed color, movement and creative thinking. As a little girl I carried crayons and coloring books around with me everywhere I went.
I recently discovered painting as a way to ignite my creativity and it's been a transformational way for me to re-wire patterns of thinking that no longer served me.
I began my painting my little "doodles" poolside next Chris at a resort in Mexico. Painting has become a daily practice, a personal non-negotiable way for me to begin each day. It’s also proved to be a wonderful source of connection.
I believe that creativity can happen as easily in a Andaz hotel room when I travel for work or play as it does in my studio tucked away in the gorgeous Wasatch Front outside of Park City. I often paint on hikes, at Deer Valley Resort or on my porch.
Painting brings me peace and offers me a place to meditate on the beauty in the world & the grace I feel while living in it. It offers me a way to translate emotions into color and form in a way that I cant with words.
My highest goal is to convey that same peace and grace to the viewer, offering a moment or pause & a feeling of deep belonging.
The desire to excel in my creative journey results in abstract images that feel free and spontaneous and exude design and beauty. Each piece fuels my desire for the next. Texture, movement, color, and good design are the basis for my work.
Since I work with many layers of color and use various mediums I like to work in acrylics and watercolor. Their fast drying properties lends itself to my technique of adding washes and glazes which reveal the layers below: sometimes altering colors and generating nuances of form and hue. My paintings may include watercolor, acrylic paints, found papers, pen, graphite and or metallic leafing. All of these elements give the piece depth and interest. A stickler for quality, I only use the very best artist grade pigments and materials and archrival quality supports.
A number of different implements are used to achieve the finished product such as those that may be found in the hardware store or kitchen. I also use traditional artist's brushes and tools. In the game of creating wherever you are, anything is fair game to my way of thinking. I've been known to use hotel ice buckets and airplane tickets in my work. Each piece has a clear gloss UV protective coat to give them a finished look and feel.
